Plant History: Transmission plant completed and production began in 1956. There have been 12 expansions since then. Chrysler Group announced in May 2010 that it would invest $43 million to adapt the plant for production of the World Engine and improve processes for the 62TE transmission program. Then in June 2010, the company announced that it would invest $300 million to produce a new, fuel-efficient eight-speed automatic transmission for future Chrysler Group vehicles. An investment of an additional $85 million was announced in December 2010.
